LONELINESS

Loneliness affects so many people from all walks of life, but especially the elderly.
Today I visited one of my elderly friends who is in her eighties, she has been admitted to a nursing home for two weeks respite care, as she was not coping at home. She has become slightly confused, and forgot that she had had several visitors that day, but then on being reminded, remembered. I knew that she had been visited earlier, as the carer who showed me up to her room, informed me that several people had already been in that day.

I took my dog with me to visit her, as it is a dog friendly home, and my friend was not only thrilled to see me, but also to see the dog.

Dog therapy is encouraged in many places, and was also actively encouraged at the Lady Cilento children's hospital in Brisbane where I worked as an agency nurse on several occasions. The elderly and children delight in relating to animals, especially if they are warm and cuddly! It makes the clinical setting less threatening, and more "normalised" and friendly.

Well, dog therapy definitely worked with my friend today, and she responded with delight and chatted away to my dog whilst I was in the loo. Companionship is something that is missed hugely by those who have been married for years, to be left suddenly alone after the death of their partner is something that many of them have not really had time to prepare for.  My elderly friend Lilly was quite distressed to be shut away in a room, with just the four walls to talk to, as the TV was not working, and she only had a limited amount of reading material. She said she was still able to read alright, but, again, this pleasure is denied to many due to failing eyesight or the ability to concentrate well enough to absorb what is on the written page.

Just having someone different from the nursing or carer staff to talk to, someone in touch with the "outside" world, helps to remind them that they are not cut off, and helps them to stay grounded, plus giving them a fresh view from the grey/white walls crowding in on them. It can be a bleak aspect to someone who has led and active and full life, to have their horizons so horribly narrowed and restricted. Talking of external things helps them to expand their horizons, albeit temporarily, and gives them a feeling of connection with others outside of their confining walls!

It is a small sacrifice on your part, to give half an hour to someone stuck in a situation like that, and helps to brighten their day. It may mean the world to them, and will be remembered long after you have left and gone back to your busy world!

Take time out to visit a loved one, a friend or someone who is lonely. You will be making a bigger difference than you may realise!

Have a great day!

GROWTH and CULTIVATION

REFLECTING this morning on a few things.

Life is not a bed of roses, it is a bit like being a gardener and tending your garden. You have to keep pruning and weeding to discourage the negative things and water and nourish the positive things so that you get the results and productivity you are aiming for! Neglect the garden and it will become overgrown and tangled with weeds, and the flowers will be choked and lost.

So now in life it is important to weed out the negative things, people, habits that hinder you from your greatest productivity! It is so easy to amass huge collections of material on line, filling your inbox with junk! You don't have time to sort it all out, and inadvertantly  you might delete something you should have kept, and waste your time on womething that really was not worth your time!

Looking back on things and seeing how easy it is to get bogged down with the time wasters, I have come to the conclusion that not only is the garden needing some attention, but my computer is needing a good sort out and clearing of junk, so that greater productivity can be achieved!

This can also be said of my life. I am one of those people who gets easily trapped into doing too much, and must learn to prioritise and focus on the more important issues... life is too short to waste it over unnecessary items! Yes, I do value my life and know that it is a gift that I appreciate, and am grateful for. Now I am becoming older, and hopefully, wiser and am taking time to stop and smell the roses and have time for reflection a bit more!

Reflection or meditation time is not wasted. You will find that you have a clearer mind, and you will gain in productivity in thought processing and actually getting more things done. So, take time out, stop and think awhile, smile; breathe and relax. Then being rejuvenated, you can jump up and get those things done that have been staring at you in the face for these last few months!!

Have a great day! Enjoy!

COFFEE MORNING

This morning many people around the UK have attended a coffee morning to raise money to support the Macmillan nurses and cancer victims.

It seems almost that  a day doesn't go by when you hear the words "Oh you know _______ they have just been diagnosed with cancer." It is so sad that in this wonderful age of technology and increase in medical know-how we still do not seem to have the cure for cancer, and somebody, somewhere is battling for their lives as they face yet another round of chemo or radilogy!

It is a change not to be working with sick people all the time, as I am here looking after my elderly father. He has just turned 93 and is certainly not sitting around waiting for the inevitable! He is making the most of his life, and has a wide circle of friends. He is blessed with remarkable health and a sharp mind. He tells you what he has been up to during the day and others are just exhausted listening! Actually, just in this last year, he admits to slowing down! He still manages to sing in two choirs, and is popular, as there are not so many tenors around at the moment! He even anounced at my special Toastmaster's evening that he was a professional funeral attender! As he often attends a funeral or memorial at least once a week, either in the capacity as a friend or acquaintance, or as a member of the choir! He does at least get to attend some weddings as well, as that makes a balance to the dreariness of the dirges at funerals!

Today he has gone out to the golf course, to "have time with the boys!" Yes, he still manages to swing a club, but not so high or to get the ball so far, yet it is more often than not, straight down the fairway!

In our lives we need to aim far, and keep hitting the ball down the fairway, so that we keep our goals in sight and keep heading in the right direction! It does not matter if it takes 5 hits or 6 hits to get there, as long as you keep aiming for the target, and keep heading towards your goals!

So, once again, I will say it again: persistence is the key!

Use it to unlock the stuckness you may have been experiencing, and keep on keeping on!

have a great day!

ENCOURAGEMENT

When you are down in the dumps and tired and feel that nothing is working, it is SOOOO fantastic to receive a phone call from some special people who are encouraging and supportive. It lifts your spirits and re-motivates you as you are reminded afresh about your "WHY"
Why are you doing what you do? Who are you doing it all for?

So now refreshed and refocussed...

Pressing on to the next level!

In my time of reflection this morning I had been thinking about the trees that grow by the river. Their roots go down into the soil and draw water and nourishment to help them to grow. They have seasons of fruitfulness, and the times when they appear to be unfruitful are actually the times where they are resting, and taking time out to be rejuvenated, to become yet more fruitful! We need to take the time to be refreshed and nourished to enable us to keep going. Time out to reflect and to refresh is vital to help you stay on track! And to also keep fresh and be energised with new ideas and thoughts. If we keep on the same track year in and year out, we become stale and stagnant. Time out is so precious, so regroup, and re-focus on your goals.

Plan and take time out to organise and create strategies.... success is coming!

Implementation of the plan will see results..

Persistence is the key, if at first you don't succeed then try, try, try again! it is always good to read stories where people have not succeeded at first and then, due to persistence and determination, they have pulled through and reached the stars! What a fantastic feeling, to stand on the mountain top and admire the view! The sense of achievement and the taste of victory are sweet. My goal will always be to help others to climb to the top, as it is in supporting and encouraging others, that success comes all the sweeter! My heart swells with pride in seeing my mentees achieve and gain more than what they thought they could! To see the joy and delight in their faces is wondrous to behold!

It is like to old saying: give a man a fish, he will eat for the day, teach him to fish and he will eat for life!

CONNECTING ACROSS THE WORLD

In this day and age it is quite amazing how fast news can spread around the world. Technology of today enables people to communicate like never before, and yet the art of conversation is waining as people use electronic gadgets so often!
Blogging is different as we have to write words to express thoughts and feelings to convey a whole plethora of thoughts and emotions! Using long hand I suppose!

Now am logging these thoughts here, as I was interviewed online by a chap in China so that I can become an online teacher to children over there! Now isn't that incredible? It was fun and we both enjoyed the experience!

Moving on further into the day I went to help one of my clients who I do some caring for. I took him outside for a walk in the middle of the day. He so enjoyed having the sun on his back, and relished the short walk in the fresh air. He was encouraged and was more sprightly than he has been for a while. Sunshine gives everyone a boost, especially when the sky is blue and it was so lovely outside.

My next port of call was to share some of my stories with a group of ladies. They said I was most entertaining as I moved around and engaged with them. I felt a bit like Tigger, full of bounce and energy, especially as I was younger than most of them! But they felt encouraged and enjoyed the  stories about some of the people I have met and worked with in my life! Stories hold interest and truths which bring encouragement and help us relate to others!

Then this morning I have just used messenger to chat with my son in Australia. Just to ring and express my concern re his latest job application.. which he tells me was ok, but the job was meant for the internal sector of the company and had not actually been released to the public sector yet! But at least they did not give him a "NO" as yet... hope bubbles still!

So now moving on with the rest of the day, For more connections and communications across the globe!

Have a great day!

Les Brown: Keys To Self Motivation | Inspirational!

EMOTIONAL HEALING

Last Sunday had a wonderful experience of Tea at Harrods!

I went there with my Australian friend who was over for a visit to the Big City, and my son and his girlfriend.

Over tea and cake we got talking, as you do. We talked about many things, but as my Australian friend and I had worked together in the same place for many years, the topic of work place harassment came up! We reviewed how many people had come and gone in the work place, and how many had suffered from bullying and harassment during that time! It was a wonderful time of being able to speak freely about such things in an extraordinary place, far removed from such goings on, which occurred on the other side of the world!

Having then said good bye to my friend, the rest of us piled in the car and headed to South London to sit in my sons' flat, drink some more tea and to continue our Deep and Meaningful discussion.
This all resulted from the fact that my ex-husband suffered from PTSD and had become very difficult to live with , to the point that it was not safe to continue to do so.

Our discussion progressed to our personal experiences through the time of living with my husband, and how he had been really unable to be present as a father/husband due to his own experience of not being fathered properly as his father had been absent so much due to war. So in reality he had never had a fair chance himself. He has his own healing journey to travel.

This led on to further discussion with how it had been for both my son and his girlfriend during their upbringing and how it had affected them, and to how they were now! It helped them to process how they were reacting to situations and to see how their thinking had been formulated due to their individual experiences. Which led them to realise how much they had in common, and yet also how much they both had to unlearn, so that their own healing could continue! Healing takes a life time!

The more we talked, the more the healing process was being worked out in all of us, as we were able to share our own thoughts and feelings more openly than ever before! It was such a good time, of being able to clear the air and to bond together in such a relaxed and informal manner!

Now I am hoping that others may also have such times to feel safe and able to trust enough to get to this point! I know that my other sons and many other acquaintances will have a lot of ground to cover before they are able to get to such a level! It was so refreshing to actually be able to talk about it all and to begin to see some of the processing through others eyes. Chatting together so calmly was very much part of the healing in itself!

Today I press on to take more steps on my own personal walk of healing. Speaking out about the process is part of the journey. Writing and sharing the process releases yet more salve into the wounds that have lain hidden beneath the facade of the face that you have presented to the world! It is a bit like pealing back the layers of an onion. There is so much to uncover and discover about oneself through it all. What lies buried beneath the surface, as all the years of having to cope and to soldier on, pushing back fear and anxiety, to appear normal and to survive from one day to the next; gradually and gently begin to come to the fore and allow themselves to be looked at and examined in a non-threatening way.

Travelling home to where I am now currently living, it was a time of realising how much water has gone under the bridge since those days. It is time to reassess yet again, and to make positive steps to branch out, to break away from the pain and oppression of the past and to pursue new paths to freedom. To rediscover JOY! to allow oneself time to appreciate some of the more pleasurable things in life. To discover that there is a LIFE after pain and sorrow, that there is HOPE and opportunity to make a difference to yourself and to others.

So I keep on sharing my journey of healing, in the hope that it will touch others and help them on their journey as well. You have to learn to love yourself as well!

God bless. have a great day!

TAKE ACTION

You must have heard the saying;

If you do nothing......
                                 then NOTHING will happen!!!

Therefore if you want something to happen,  you will have to do SOMETHING!!

Have you set some goals? If not, NOW is the time to set some goals and take aim!

It is so important to take action step by step. It takes one bite at a time to eat an elephant! Small steps will get you there, even if it seems a tiny step at the time, it is still one step nearer to your goal!

Persistence is KEY!

Keep at it day by day and you will see results.

NEVER GIVE UP!

Today is the day to take those first steps!

Even climbing Mount Everest, it takes one step at a time!

It is important to prepare, have a plan and stick to the plan!

So get serious, write out your goals and then map the route to get them achieved, by taking small achievable steps day by day, you will get there!

Hope you have a fantastic day and will blog some more tomorrow!

REFLECTIONS

Am here in Suffolk for a memorial service for one of my families matriarchs. She was 96 and has done a huge amount in her life. She has also suffered so much grief, as she had lost two of her four sons in tragic circumstances at different times, early on in their lives. Then she lost her husband, and since then has soldiered on tirelessly to help others cope with grief and loss. Her latest project has been to set up a hospice for those who are suffering through cancer/disease/end-stages-of-life.

My hat off to her and all her efforts. She has used her life well.

I hope that my efforts will also make an impact on those who are struggling in some way or another. I really want to reach out to those who are fighting to be heard. Abuse is NOT ok and I want to be a voice to speak out and declare that any type of abuse should not be occurring.
Sad facts of this world are that there is way too much of it. Too many are being subjected to abuse and it does not seem to be diminishing! Surely in this day and age when we have so much internet connection you might think that there would be more awareness..... but apparently not.

Everywhere I go I meet new people who have their own story to share. Too many suffer in silence due to one reason or another. Some people are not even aware that they are in an abusive situation, like myself. I was just struggling on trying to make the best of life, and coping with the home situation. Truth is that only when I was confronted with the Domestic Violence wheel and asked to underline the things that were happening in my house/life that I realised how much was going on and how much we were putting up with, which should NOT be the norm!!

Too many people are suffering quietly in their own corners of the world and so it goes on!

When one gets married it seems that expectations of a life of bliss fly out of the window. I met a nurse in Brisbane as I was working as a Clinical Facilitator, who was excited at her pending marriage. A few months later I was back working with more students on her ward. She was looking well, but related her horrendous story, of how, as soon as she was married, the man she thought she could spend the rest of her life with, turned and started to control her in so many ways. Restricting her relationships with her family and friends, controlling her spending and then started to demean her with vile words. She had the sense to leave, and is now living with a new partner who loves and respects her and is helping her along her healing journey!

All  power to those who are on that healing journey! It does take time, and may take years, but there is HOPE!

Have a great day!

DREAM BIG!

I was so grateful to my coach yesterday on our coaching call!

I had been anxious that I was getting left behind and was not on track, but that was soon put straight and I am empowered to continue and to persist until I succeed!

It is so good to know that my efforts are appreciated and that my goals are achievable!

Now I have to write some more content, prepare some more speeches and to get cracking with yet more stuff to do!

Plus do some more travelling as my dad and I are attending a family memorial service in Suffolk tomorrow! Yet more stuff to do!

It is a wonder sometimes how one can pack so much into Life!

A full Life is so much more exciting, no time to get bored! I would definitely have too much to do, than not enough! Yet, I do appreciate time out walking with the dog, as it gives me time to reflect, meditate and pray. These are also precious times!

So be encouraged, you too can have a full Life! Just start looking around and see what or who you can help today!

Actually, yesterday was excellent, as not only did we get back in time to have my coaching call, but we got to pick up three wheelchairs, as we know people who need them. So last night I was able to drop one around to this couple I know and it was great to see how much the loan of a wheel chair can do for them. They can go out and go shopping together, and it means it is giving them broader horizons and more meaning to shared time again! so rewarding!

Hope you have a great day. go and Shine!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

Reflection is a great thing to help you gain perspective and to give you clarity.

Write down your goals, and post them on your wall. Think about them often and stay focussed!

It is important to stay on track, to not get distracted or to procrastinate! (Be disciplined!)

Admittedly Life is busy and can get in the way, but learn to carve out time for the things you want to get done! Make time for family, friends and loved ones. Do not neglect relationships for work. There will always be stuff to do, but loved ones are only there for a time, appreciate those moments whilst you can. Time invested in loved ones is never wasted. You will miss them when they are no longer around!

My brother is so keen on preparing for his retirement... and has planned everything mapped out for his family! He is climbing mountains in his spare time! He and his wife do walking holidays , they have just completed walking 184 miles along the edge of the Thames! (They did it in two sections.)

Are you ready for retirement? Do you have enough set aside to keep you in the manner you are accustomed to/would like? It all needs to be worked out!

Now they are talking about syringing ears (which I can do!) and using a syringe to fix a car headlight!!!! Really they are just digging at me. My headlights both blew at the weekend!

More to do!

Going back to mountain climbing, it is also great to get the top and admire the view! To get there, you must plan and prepare each step, so that you can achieve your goals!
this is true for all things in life!

So I need to start planning my next book...

Keep watching this space!

Moving along...

Talk soon, have a great day.

FREEDOM IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!

Well here I am still in Glasgow, and its raining!

This does not dampen my enthusiasm for learning or applying all that I am gaining from the courses that I am doing!!

Once again, I must reinforce that persistence is the key, followed by consistency! It is so important to remember: NEVER GIVE UP!!!

How inspiring was Winston Churchill in the film "the Darkest Hour"? He got the opinion of the people, and they did not want to surrender, so Winston rallied the people. I found it very inspiring, and so now the challenge is on, to make the online social media system work not only for my business, but also as a means to launch the message that freedom is worth fighting for!

Freedom from poverty and freedom from abuse!

So now I am pressing in to learn more and to apply more. I need to really get the webinars together, to spread the message far and wide... so much more to express and so much more to learn!!

It really saddens me to see not only on the streets of London, but also on the streets here in Glasgow so many homeless, so many sleeping on the streets... It is already getting cold, and there are only so many sandwiches and coffees that you can give out... but even one cup of coffee has gone to make a difference. One more person feels warm inside! One more person has food in their belly for another day!

The point of learning to make money online, is to endeavour to make the world a better place, one step at a time!

If I think I have problems and am struggling, how much more is the woman on the street with her bags around her; or the man asleep in his sleeping bag in the doorway down the street?

Rome was not built in a day, so persistence continues.

Hope you have a good night, keep pressing in and never give up!

God bless.

LEARNING ALL ABOUT AFFILIATE MARKETING - growing your business online

Well hello fellow bloggers... here I am again!

Currently am attending a prophetic conference, and am learning that God provides in abundance if we seek His face.. Not necessarily so that you become wealthy for yourself, but so that you can provide for yourself and others....

so hence the need to post some video clips on wealth creation, money management and also how to be given Godly wisdom to manage all of it!

The online business learning is a steep learning curve for me, but have been helped along the road by Paul O'Mahony and his team of wonderful coaches, who have given me personal assistance at the training days and have been so good and patient with me!

Remember, you are never too old to learn, and it is a huge learning curve to make all this work, but when you are motivated to set up a foundation and create a place to help others then you most certainly are inspired to keep on keeping on! So moving right along, here I am tweeting, blogging and learning more every day!

Now I have written my first book called "Matters of Life, 10 Keys to Make Your Life Matter' and will be writing a second book shortly on giving a voice to those who are on a journey of recovery from abuse, or who are needing to make the first steps to healing!  The more people I meet who are so keen for this to be written and to promote their stories of recovery, the more I feel compelled to write it. We all have a story to tell!

So please feel free to join me on a learning curve and sign up with Paul. Or get his book and learn for yourself!

Now is the time to make a difference in your life and in the lives of those close to you.

God bless.

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

HOW HEALTHY IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP?

Having just made my first webinar on how to Break Free From Toxic Relationships, it is also important to be objective about a good relationship.... there is always room for improvement!

To have and maintain a healthy relationship you need to build a strong foundation. If you have ever studied relationships with the Gottman Institute you will know about his pyramid to build strong solid relationships.

He starts with creating time together, which builds memories and special moments. These are treasured times which are important to have as a solid platform which helps to make the relationship stand firm if there is anything that tries to rock the boat!

Next you need to establish common goals, and be loving and supportive of each other.

PRESSING ON IN LIFE!

Sometimes you feel stuck in life and wonder which direction to turn to next...

Have just had a couple of days away ....

It has been good to spend some time with family and also to have time to be alone, and to reflect on the situation!

Now it is a matter of pressing in and being persistent..

There is SO much to do that sometimes it is hard to see the wood for the trees!

Everywhere I look there are things that need doing! The grass needs cutting, the ironing needs doing, and  then there is the homework.....

Where do you begin?

Learning to prioritise is not as simple as all that, especially when dealing with elderly folk, as they need attention and to be listened to as well!

Trying to run a business, a home and keep up to date with latest online trends is about three jobs rolled into one!

Ah, well, nose to the grind stone yet again!

Am also continuing to press on to present a webinar on Tuesday... so back to the learning curve!!

See you soon!
