Personal Growth takes time, especially if you have experienced difficulties and traumas in your life. Sometimes the struggle to overcome seems overwhelming, but as you persevere in your personal walk, you begin to see evidence of your personal transformation and others will see the changes in you and stand in awe of you, as you demonstrate the power you have from within!
Yesterday at Toastmasters we watched one lady delivering her 6th speech. It was fantastic to witness her personal transformation, which she clearly outlined throughout her speech. Her journey had taken her from being so shy and timid, following years of oppression and abuse, to the current point where she is not only able to talk about her experience, but she is able to deliver her speech with confidence, an air of authority and a clear demonstration of personal development. She is letting her inner light shine through, displaying her inner radiance. She is now able to be more confident at work, and able to deliver work commands with a greater air of authority and assurance. She is stepping out and accepting her self worth with serenity and a deepening sense of personal accomplishment.
We all can learn by example and can take strides along our own journeys, learning to lift our heads high as we see the inner man being healed and acknowledged in a positive and encouraging way.
We all need affirmation. Toastmasters delivers a way of being encouraged and through evaluation: discovering our weaknesses and being able to iron out the creases and become stronger as we press onwards!
These attributes of support and encouragement need to be carried over in to every walk of life. Too many work places have succumbed to a few who make it a real chore to work at. If we all walked in the way of encouragement and endorsing positive behaviours, our work places and our lives would be enriched very powerfully. The world would be a better place for it!
Personally it is so encouraging to see people blossoming into who they are becoming. One child I was counselling at the centre where I worked, was having lots of issues at home. I asked her to create an "Affirmation Collage" which she did, and then I asked her to talk me through all her pictures, and why she had included them. One of her pictures was of a flowering cherry tree. I asked her why she had included this, and her reply was: "Because I am blossoming!" I was thrilled, as this was gold! She knew that she was changing and growing out of her personal issues, and becoming a stronger person because of them!
We can all grow and change, so be encouraged, today, as you step further along your own journey of life be blessed and uplifted. Never give up!
